Connaissance Now we are here again to discuss a totally new design concept for a regular template. Today, we are going to announce the concept and story behind new design "Connaissance". Its pretty simplified layout, clean, elegant aesthetic, straight-forward structure and what less would you expect from us than beautiful, completely SEO friendly layout using increasingly-popular XHTML and CSS combination to create flawless design. Off topic, A little over a month ago, just when we started to design phpMyDirectory templates, Robert (Lead developer, PMDStyles) asked me (Jeff, SEO and Support, PMDStyles) a few questions about what we’ve been thinking and planning to doing with PMDStyles after few months. Are we only designing templates for phpMyDirectory. Well Robert had very good point. certainly we do like designing but we are trying to narrow down the gap between improvement and perfection. We are improving the look, feel and overall structure from beginning. We have talked about customized solution for a long time, but it has never actually happened. We either didn't have the interest, budget, time or resources. But this time we took a small step towards big goal.   Keep reading inside. (UPDATED // Looking for template tester, more info inside.) Let me explain it in little more detail. What is a good design? It's not just colors or graphics or piece of code but a good design is a best possible combination of every possible resource. Although, appearance is a powerful thing, specially in show business and of course WWW. Quality, content, features, price, value and image are all extremely important, no question. Designers of everything from big Hollywood movies to kitchen appliances will tell you that all other factors being roughly equal people will purchase the best-looking product. Or the one that looks best to them with KISS. Well Connaissance is inspired by K.I.S.S concept - "Keep It Simple Stupid" in web design. Connaissance is not only simple stupid but also clean and "easy stupid" to use, to customize. We decided to replace the boring style of traditional phpMyDirectory template by neat and eye-catching storage system. And therein lies the challenge designers face every day of their working lives: style and style is highly subjective and subject to change every second. The new Connaissance template is about to go live. The header, navigation, and buttons are graphics light but rich, and unlike most of our latest templates which have been quite based on standard template layout models and big menu items. We were working on very minor details just to make sure that this template is highly SEO friendly. Also, the navigation bar CSS is a clean piece of art no more fuzzy and complicated menu bars. It's a bit difficult though, since some of the menu buttons are dynamically generated depending upon status and presentation. One of the wonderful things about CSS is that it allows authors to create media-specific styles for a single document. We’ve pretty much leeched it. We used one and half column layout, 5 color options, clear, clean and high accessibility layout, paper effects in design, nice custom set of icons, cross browser support and much more which we will disclose later. Now we are not going to sell Connaissance as regular templates. We would sell it to first few customers only to avoid duplication of design. Purchase can be only made via fully automatic PAYPAL based secure online shop on first come first serve bases. So keep checking for updates.
